So what do we have for you today? Adebayor still not a Manchester City man, maybe it’ll be done over the weekend but there are others who have completed moves today. We start with Stewart Downing, who moved from the relegated Middlesbrough to Aston Villa for a fee of 12 million pounds. Downing penned a four year deal with the Birmingham based club. Downing is currently recovering for an injury but should be back around September. The England international had a great 2007-2008 campaign but a very disappointing season, like his team, in 2008-2009, failing to score a single league goal. Martin O’Neill is hoping Downing can produce more than a few assists next year for Villa who will look to improve on their 5th place finish and grab a champions league spot for the first time.
Speaking of 12 million pounds, it seems Peter Crouch will also be moved for the same amount from Portsmouth to the other end of England, Sunderland. The striker is set to agree his terms with the club in the next few days.

After one Brazilian left Inter Milan yesterday (Maxwell to Barcelona), it seems that another Brazilian defender, although more high profile than Maxwell, is set to join the Italian Champions. Lucio, who has spent the last five seasons with Bayern Munich winning three German league titles, is set to sign a three year contract with Inter. Inter’s president, Massimo Moratti claimed that deal wasn’t closed yet, but Bayern have announced that the sale of the Brazilian international is complete.
Lucio’s arrival probably means the Inter will now drop the chase after Chelsea’s Ricardo Carvahlo and with Jose Morinho announcing that his squard is bigger than he wants, it’s expected that a few departures, like Maxwell, are soon to come.
