Floyd Mayweather is currently doing the promotional tour, along with Miguel Cotto, for their May 5 fight in Las Vegas. Mayweather couldn’t help himself but take a shot at Pacquiao, here and there, while deciding who to praise more – Cotto or himself.

It’s hard to say what Mayweather’s better at – Actually boxing, undefeated in the ring  after 42 and 16 years of professional boxing, or running his mouth. His ring intelligence is incredible, but when he opens his mouth to speak, you generally wonder if he thinks these things through, and actually says them to piss everybody off, or is it just instinct that gets the best of him each time?

What did he talk about? About Manny Pacquiao not being the sharpest tool in the shed, referring to their phone conversation. Maybe speaking to Pacquiao in English, which isn’t Pacquiao’s first language, had something to do with it, but that’s besides the point. Mayweather’s most interesting comments regarding his future fights, and especially Manny Pacquiao, were about a 50-50 split, that will never happen.

He faces Floyd Mayweather, he’s not getting 50-50. Not at all. No one is getting 50-50. If I offered him $30 million, he should be happy. If I offered him $30 million and I didn’t give money on the back end, why should I? He’s with Arum right now, and they’re having problems. It’s obvious he must not be getting money on the back end. If I’m scared and I’m a coward, why do you guys want to see me fight?Do I want the Pacquiao fight? Absolutely. But it’s going to be hard to make the fight because Arum is worried about getting money.

Mayweather is the bigger draw, there’s no doubt about that, but $30 million in a fight that will make much, much, more, is being naive of Mayweather to think that Pacquiao will actually accept that, especially with Bob Arum whispering in his ear. It’s always hard to tell with Mayweather, who made it look like the drug policies were the big problem for him. So did the Pacquiao camp for a long time. Apparantly, it’s only about money, which should be expected.

Mayweather took another shot at Pacquiao by claiming that as far as he’s concerned, Cotto is undefeated. He talked about Margarito getting caught cheating, which most of the boxing world believed happened in the Cotto fight as well, and he fought Pacquiao at a catch-weight, while not being 100%. Please.

Mayweather forgot to talk about when he fought Juan Manuel Marquez, a fight planned to be at 144 lbs. A few days before the bout Mayweather decided he can’t go below 146 and threw some cash at Marquez so he’d agree to take on the extra pounds. I don’t know if he counts that on the win column for him or not.

Looking into my crystal ball, in the current state of mind of both boxers, I just don’t see the two fighting. Pacquiao talked recently about wanting to do what the fans want, regarding his choice of not taking the fourth Marquez fight because he felt people are tired of the same old thing. The fans want him to fight Mayweather, but with money being the absolute power in the boxing world instead of prestige or titles, the window of opportunity of seeing these two fight in their primes keeps getting smaller.
