The first title in Italian soccer goes to S.S. Lazio, the 2009 cup holders, who beat Inter Milan, the champions of the last four seasons, in the Italian Super Cup game that was held in Beijing China. Inter were better throughout most of the match, but conceded two goals in the second half from Matuzalem (lucky bounce) and Tommaso Rocchi (beautiful chip). Samuel Eto’o, who hardly had any help or good passes sent to him was able to make it 2-1 in the 78th minute. Diego Milito had a goal disqualified on the cause of Samuel Eto’o standing offside and disturbing the goalkeeper, despite not touching the ball.
This was Lazio’s third Super Cup trophy and the first since 2000 and it was the first title for new manager Davide Ballardini.
