In football, Mexico beat Brazil 2-1 to claim their first medal ever in that event while keeping the Brazilians without a gold medal one more time, while the Brazilian women’s volleyball team took gold, beating the United States in the final.

Men’s 50 kilometers walk – Sergey Kirdyapkin of Russia, a two time world champion at this event, set a new Olympic record of 3:35:59 to claim his first Olympic gold medal. Silver went to Jared Tallent of Australia, who won silver at this event in Beijing as well. Bronze went to Si Tianfeng of China.

Women’s 20 kilometers walk – Russia with another gold, this time to Elena Lashmanova, setting a new world record with 1:25:02. Silver went to Olga Kaniskina, also of Russia, who won this event four years ago. Bronze went to Qieyang Shenjie of China.

Women’s high jump – Anna Chicherova of Russia took the gold with 2.05, improving on her bronze from Beijing. Silver went to Brigetta Barrett of the United States. Bronze went to Svetlana Shkolina of Russia.

Men’s Javelin Throw – 19 year old Keshorn Walcott took gold with a new national record for Trinidad & Tobago, 84.58. Oleksandr Pyatnytsya of Ukraine took the silver medal. Bronze went to Antti Ruuskanen of Finalnd.

Men’s 5000 meters – Mo Farah claimed the 5000-10,000 double, claiming gold for Great Britain. Silver went to Dejen Gebremeskel of Ethiopia. Bronze went to Thomas Longosiwa of Kenya.

Women’s 800 meters – Mariya Savinova of Russia took gold after winning this event at the world’s a year ago. Silver went to the always controversial Caster Semenya of South Africa took silver. Bronze went to another Russian, Ekaterina Poistogova.

Women’s 4×400 meters relay – An easy win for the United States, taking the double in the women’s relays. Allyson Felix, Deedee Trotter, Francesca McCorory and Sanya Richards-Ross took gold, followed by Russia with silver and Jamaica with bronze.

Men’s 4×100 meters relay – The Jamaican foursome of Nesta Carter, Michael Frater, Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt set a new world record, breaking their time from last year with a 36.84, just ahead of the United States with a national record of 37.04. Trinidad & Tobago took bronze.

Basketball

Women’s Final – Easy gold for the United States, their fifth in a row, beating France 86-50 in the final. Australia took the bronze medal.

Boxing

Men’s light flyweight – Zou Shiming of China took the gold medal. Silver went to Kaeo Pongprayoon of Thailand. Bronze went to Paddy Barnes of Ireland and David Aryapetyan of Russia.

Men’s bantamweight – Luka Campbell of Great Britain took gold. Silver went to John Joe Nevin of Ireland. Bronze medals went to Lazaro Alvarez of Cuba and Satoshi Shimizu of Japan.

Men’s light welterweight – Roniel Iglesias of Cuba took the gold medal. Silver went to Denis Berinchuk of Ukraine. Bronze medals to Vincenzo Mangiacpare of Italy and Uranchimegiin Monkh-Erdenne of Mongolia.

Men’s heavyweight – Oleksandr Usyk of Ukraine won the gold. Silver went to Clemente Russo of Italy. Bronze medals went to Tervel Pulev of Bulgaria and Teymur Mammadov of Azerbaijan.

Men’s middleweight – Ryota Murata of Japan took the gold. Silver went to Esquiva Falcao Florentino of Brazil. Bronze medals to Anthony Ogogo of Great Britain and Abbos Atoev of Uzbekistan.

Men’s K-1 200 meters – More gold for Great Britain in the water, going to Ed McKeever. Silver went to Saul Craviotto of Spain, an gold medalist from Beijing. Bronze went to Mark de Jonge of Canada.

Men’s C-1 200 meters – Yuriy Cheban of Ukraine took the gold medal. Silver went to Jevgeji Shuklin of Lithuania. Bronze went to Ivan Shtyl of Russia.

Women’s K-1 200 meters – World champion, Lisa Carrington of New Zealand took gold. Silver went to Inna Osypenko of Ukraine, her second silver in London. Bronze went to Natasa Dusev-Janics of Hungary.

Women’s cross-country – Julie Bresset of France took gold. Silver went to Sabine Spitz of Germany, the gold medalist from Beijing. Bronze went to Georgia Gould of the United States.

Men’s 10 meters platform – Gold went to David Boudia of the United States. Silver to Qiu Bo of China. Bronze went to Tom Daley, the 18 year old from Great Britain.

Men’s final – Germany retained their gold medal from Beijing, beating the Netherlands 2-1 in the final. Bronze went to Australia.

Football

Men’s – Mexico took their first ever medal at this event, stunning Brazil 2-1 in the final, keeping the Brazilians without a gold medal at this event. Bronze went to South Korea.

Gymnastics

Women’s rhythmic individual all-around – Yevgeniya Kanayeva of Russia took the gold medal for the second time in a row. Silver went to Daria Dmitrieva of Russia. Bronze went to Liubov Charkashvna of Belarus.

Women’s Final – Norway took gold, beating Montenegro (their first Olympic medal in London) 26-23 in the final. Spain beat South Korea 31-29 to take the bronze medal.

Men’s – David Svoboda of the Czech Republic took the gold medal. Silver went to Cao Zhongrong of China. Bronze went to Adam Marosi of Hungary.

Eliott 6 meters – Spain took gold, Australia took silver, Finland took bronze.

Women’s +67 kilograms – Milica Mandic of Serbia won the gold medal. Silver went to Anne-Caroline Graffe of France. Bronze went to Anastasia Baryshnikova of Russia and Maria Espinoza of Mexico.

Men’s +80 kilograms – Carlo Molfetta of Italy won the gold, beating Anthony Obame of Gabon, taking silver. Bronze went to Robelis Despaigne of Cuba and Liu Xiaobo of China.

Women’s final – Brazil took gold, beating the United States 3-1 in the final. Bronze went to Japan, beating South Korea in the medal match.
