Week 8 offered no change and no real mix in what will be the polls later on and the BCS standings, as Alabama, Oregon, Kansas State, Florida, Notre Dame and Oregon State kept on winning.

And they’re not the only undefeated teams. Mississippi State keep on beating teams, this time Middle Tennessee 45-3. Nothing impressive in their opponents, but for the Bulldogs to be 3-0 in the SEC, 7-0 in general after the midway point of the season?

Rutgers are another surprising face to see in the perfect column, with their defense carrying them through and Big East game, beating Temple, on the road, 35-10. Louisville, the other Big East undefeated team, barely made it out of their game against South Florida, rallying behind Teddy Bridgewater and improve to 7-0. Cincinnati said goodbye to their perfect season, falling at Toledo.

The LSU Tigers remain the biggest threat with a one loss on their record, waiting anxiously to the Alabama visit. Their offense looked, well, horrible once again, but they managed to intercept Johnny Manziel three times and come away with a 24-19 win against Texas A&M. How will that defense hold up against the steamroller that is the Crimson Tide remains to be seen.

Florida are once again the big winners of the week, which will probably solidify their number 2 BCS ranking – being the second team to destroy South Carolina, who will free fall down the polls, being destroyed 44-11 in another too-difficult-for-them SEC road game. They turned the ball over four times and gained only 36 yards on the ground.

Kansas State took a big step towards Big 12 supremacy, leaving the West Virginia Mountaineers broken and shattered after a 55-14 win in Morgantown. Collin Klein continues his surge towards a Heisman candidacy, showing he can win games with his arm, throwing for 323 yards and three touchdowns while rushing four more times into the end zone. A one man show and a defense that’s among the best in the nation.

Notre Dame? Same ol’, same ol’. Hardly any offense, but did enjoy a big day from Theo Riddick, running for 143 yards. They had just enough offense and stops in the second half to come up with a come-from-behind win over BYU, 17-14. Not impressing the voters, but still perfect.

But above all are Alabama, who still haven’t had a single test this season, still waiting to face LSU and prove that this team is as good as their record tells us. A 44-13 win over Tennessee which is very similar to the rest of the season. Teams hang on with the Tide during the first half, but that physicality takes too much of a toll, and the Tide just roll on for impressive victory after impressive victory.

Oregon showed more high powered offense, but they didn’t do enough to reclaim the second spot, especially after Florida’s impressive win over SC. Oregon State had another win without too much offense, still playing with a backup quarterback, beating Utah 21-7, and are still on course to make the most interesting and consequential Civil War game we’ve had in a very long time.

Ohio State? They’re still undefeated, but they might have lost Braxton Miller for quite a while, and they can’t win anything anyway. Sad for the Big Ten, because there’s no one even close to touching the Buckeyes at the moment.
