After 8 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, including winning the Super Bowl with the team, there’s a good chance that the best wide receiver hitting free agency in 2013 won’t be staying with the team.

Jennings has been linked to quite a few teams, most prominently with the Minnesota Vikings, who are in need of a capable receiver regardless of whether Percy Harvin stays or goes. However, nearly half the teams in the NFL would like to add someone of Jennings’ stature at the position, and considering the salary cap issues, it’s safe to assume that Buffalo, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Jacksonville, Minnesota, New England and San Francisco will all be at least slightly interested in making a move for the 2 time Pro Bowler.

Jennings missed half of the 2012 season, returning for the end of it (including the playoffs), posting 366 yards and four touchdowns during the regular season and 115 yards with one touchdown in the two postseason games combined. While his age (29) and his injury might deter some from giving him a long term contract that’s also a big hit on the salary cap, the current situation of seemingly most top WR in free agency either being retained with new deals or the franchise tag will make Jennings quite a valued commodity very soon.

And how about Jennings himself? He’s leaving everything open. When asked about the chances of the Miami Dolphins being a possible destination, Jennings sounded quite interested, yet not closing any of the doors left open to him by being out of contract.

I wouldn’t mind that at all. The weather’s definitely nice. They have an up and coming quarterback. All other 31 teams are an option, including the Minnesota Vikings. It’s one of those situations. This is business.
