D.J. Fluker

In a draft that’s all about offensive tackles, especially on the left side of the line, Alabama right tackle D.J. Fluker feels a little bit alone in his specified position, but that doesn’t mean there’s any less interest in him, with the Minnesota Vikings, St. Louis Rams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants and the Miami Dolphins all thinking about spending their first round pick on him.

The 2013 NFL draft could see three offensive tackles, all of them designated to play on the left side, get chosen in the top 10. Luke Joekel coming out of Texas A&M seems like the number one pick overall, unless the Kansas City Chiefs surprise everyone. Eric Fisher coming out of Central Michigan and Lane Johnson coming out of Oklahoma are both going to be very high picks as well, all projected to become starters at left tackle for the team that chooses them.

Out of the teams interested and in need of Fluker, the Dolphins have the first pick at 12. According to the projected plan, after losing Jake Long to the Rams, the Dolphins will move Jonathan Martin from the right side to the left, giving Fluker the slot to start at right tackle right away, giving the Dolphins a very young tandem on the edges of their offensive line.

The Vikings have two first round picks, 23 and 25, and might trade ’em to try and get to a player they really want. Same goes for the Rams who have picks number 16 and 22, although their interested in more than just a right tackle to complete their plans in the o-line. The Bucs have the number 13 pick, unless its traded away to the New York Jets for Darrelle Revis, while the New York Giants have the number 19 pick and a big need at the position.

At the moment, Fluker seems to be going anywhere in the second half of the top 20, which means teams like Minnesota might have to trade up in order to get Fluker, who is clearly the best right tackle in this draft class.
