College Football – When Will Undefeated Teams Lose

College Football – When Will Undefeated Teams Lose

LSU

Of the 29 teams remaining undefeated in College Football, it seems like Alabama, Ohio State, Louisville and Fresno State have the best chances to finish the season undefeated, while unfortunately, Oregon and Stanford, two excellent teams who can trouble the Crimson Tide, will pick up a loss in the game between them, possibly ending their national title chances.

LSU Tigers – There’s a very good chance it happens next week. A visit to Athens and playing Georgia isn’t going to be easy, and while LSU have a better defense, there are few running backs better than Todd Gurley right now, while Aaron Murray is a much better quarterback than Mettenberger. Visits to Ole Miss, Alabama and playing at home against Texas A&M look like potential losses as well.

Alabama Crimson Tide – The only real threat to Alabama seems like LSU in this schedule, which only happens on November 9. Ole Miss (next weekend) or Auburn to end the season, but the best chance for beating Alabama is in the SEC championship game or the BCS national title game, if it is Oregon or Stanford who’ll get to play them.

Ole Miss Rebels – It’s been a very nice start for Ole Miss so far this season, but the week 5 matchup with Alabama is probably going to end their undefeated run this season. Playing Texas A&M and LSU in consecutive weeks isn’t going to be easy to pull through unscathed as well.

Missouri Tigers – An easy schedule has helped Missouri avoid losses so far, but they begin October with visits to Vanderbilt and Georgia, will which where they’ll lose their first game.

Stanford Cardinal – The two teams that can hurt Stanford as they hope to win the Pac-12 once more are going to be either Washington on October 5 or Oregon on November 7.

Oregon Ducks – The only game they should be worried about is their November 7 visit to Stanford, a team that ruined their shot at the national title game last season.

Washington Huskies – The Huskies are getting better under Steve Sarkisian, but they’re not elite yet, not even in their division, as their first loss should come against either Stanford or Oregon on consecutive weeks to open October.

Clemson Tigers – Right now, the only two risks on the schedule seem like Florida State (on October 19) or the season finale against South Carolina on November 30.

Florida State Seminoles – Besides playing Clemson and Florida to end the season, there’s also a tricky game at home against undefeated Miami.

Texas Tech Red Raiders – They play Oklahoma and Oklahoma State on consecutive weeks (October 26 and November 2), losing in one of those to end their undefeated season.

Oklahoma Sooners – Their visit to South Bend to play Notre Dame this weekend should end their undefeated run.

Baylor Bears – Have so far been easily beating the competition, but a loss will come against one of the Oklahoma teams – either at home against the Sooners on Novermber 7 or against the Cowboys on the road (November 23).

Oklahoma State – Might just be the class of the Big-12, meaning that the toughest games for them will be at Texas Tech (November 2) or the season finale in Bedlam on December 7.

Michigan Wolverines – Keep winning and dropping down the rankings, as their visit to Penn State on October 12 or playing Michigan State on November 2 will be the end of their undefeated season.

Minnesota Golden Gophers – Their undefeated run will end when they play Michigan in the Big House on October 5.

Northwestern Wildcats – After four wins, their October 5 game against Ohio State will be the end to their undefeated season.

Ohio State Touchdown

Ohio State Buckeyes – Right now, it doesn’t look like anything is going to be able and stop the Buckeyes from going undefeated this season through the weak Big Ten, but either Northwestern on October 5 or Michigan on Novermber 30 will give them the closest fight.

Houston Cougars – When they host BYU on October 19 they’ll lose for the first time.

Lousiville Cardinals – Right now it looks like they’re in the clear for an undefeated season, but the risky spots are Rutgers on October 10, UCF a week later or the end of season game at Cincinnati.

UCF Black Knights – Will lose their first game this weekend playing at home against South Carolina.

Navy Midshipmen – Navy are 2-0, and will go on undefeated until their October 26 game against Pittsburgh.

Northern Illinois Huskies – Will play at Purdue this weekend, and lose for the first time this season.

Fresno State Bulldogs Have a clear path towards an undefeated season, although their final game against San Jose State might be the trickiest one they have left.
