NFL Opening Night – Top Ten Photos

The New Orleans Saints began their title defense by repeating their victory in the NFC Championship game from last season, beating the Minnesota Vikings 14-9 in New Orleans, kicking off the 2010 season perhaps in less than flashy fashion, but promising nonetheless. Here are the best photographed moments from last night’s action at the Superdome.

Who’s That?

Brett Favre, looking older than ever, warming up before kicking off his 20th NFL season and his 286th consecutive start.

Here They Come, The 2009 Champs

The New Orleans Saints fans and players, soaking in another moments of glory and love for the team, just before the game began.

Five and Done

It took the Saints only five plays and just over 2 minutes to get their first touchdown, a 29 yard pass from Drew Brees to Devery Henderson, who beat Asher Allen to the End Zone.

Not Far From Perfect

Drew Brees had a very good and efficient performance on Thursday night, going for 27-36, 237 yards, one TD and a passer rating of 101.3. Very sharp start to the season from the guy we have ranked as the number 2 QB in the league.

Saints D Rules

Adrian Peterson did run for 87 yards in 19 attempts, but never scored or got any big runs, as the Saints fantastic defense, especially Will Smith and Johnathan Vilma dominated the Vikings all night.

On Top, For a While

Visanthe Shiancoe, maybe the most productive Tight End in the NFL these days (19 TD passes since 2008) celebrating his touchdown reception, putting the Vikings up 9-7 just before halftime. Like in the NFC Championship game, the Vikings didn’t hang on to that lead for very long.

Room for Improvement

Brett Favre having one of those “What the F’ just happened here?” he usually has. Favre threw for 171 yards, one TD but also one interception in a very lackluster beginning to his 20th NFL season.

One Yard is Enough

Pierre Thomas ran for 70 yards, plus one winning yard, scoring the winning touchdown midway through the third quarter.

Don’t Worry Old Man, It’ll be Over Soon

Favre, as we said before, had a rough outing. Roman Harper didn’t make it any easier.

Taking a Ride

Reggie Bush ran for 14 yards and another 33 through receptions, and did take part in the best photo of the night, getting hit by Vikings cornerback Asher Allen. Didn’t help much in the end.
