No change in the first five spots of the latest top 25 rankings, meaning Florida State, Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma and Auburn didn’t move whether they played or not, but Georgia fell seven spots after losing to South Carolina, getting a 10-spot surge up the rankings. Virginia Tech and Louisville lost to unranked teams, costing them a spot among the elite, meaning Nebraska and Oklahoma State fill in their place.

1. Florida State Seminoles (2-0, 37 First Place Votes): Didn’t play, didn’t move.

2. Oregon Ducks (3-0, 17): Struggled in the first quarter against Wyoming but came through with a 48-14 win, adding one first place vote while staying put.

3. Alabama Crimson Tide (3-0, 1): Easy home win for Alabama, who didn’t move as well, beating Southern Miss 52-12.

4. Oklahoma Sooners (3-0, 2): Not moving anywhere despite another impressive win, this time against the SEC’s Tennessee, beating them 34-10.

5. Auburn Tigers (2-0): Didn’t play, didn’t move.

6. Texas A&M Aggies (3-0, 3): Moved up one spot thanks to a win, 38-10 over Rice, getting another big game from Kenny Hill.

7. Baylor Bears (3-0): Moved up one spot thanks to another big performance on offense, beating Buffalo 63-21.

8. LSU Tigers (3-0): Didn’t work hard to get a two-spot bump after beating Louisiana Monroe 31-0.

9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish (3-0): A two spot jump for the Fighting Irish, beating Purdue 30-14 thanks to shutting down the Boilermakers in the second half.

10. Ole Miss Rebels (3-0): Another SEC team with an easy game and win, beating Louisiana Lafayette 56-14 with a big performance from Bo Wallace.

11. Michigan State Spartans (1-1): Didn’t play, still jumped two spots.

12. UCLA Bruins (3-0): Despite losing their starting quarterback in the first quarter, the backup, Jerry Neuheisel had a big game, leading the Bruins back from behind to beat Texas 20-17, keeping UCLA at 12.

13. Georgia Bulldogs (1-1): Fell seven spots after once again dropping a game in Columbia, losing to South Carolina 38-35.

14. South Carolina Gamecocks (2-1): Hard to say why they’re below Georgia, but they did move up 10 spots after their 38-35 victory.

15. Arizona State Sun Devils (3-0): Moved up on spot after beating Colorado on the road 38-24, but lost Taylor Kelly to injury which might turn out to be very serious.

16. Stanford Cardinal (2-1): Beat Army 35-0 to rebound from their loss to USC, but actually fell back one spot.

17. USC Trojans (2-1): Got stunned by Boston College 37-31, which almost ruins all of last week for them, falling eight spots, including behind the Cardinal.

18. Missouri Tigers (3-0): A two spot rise for the Tigers, being the next team to easily beat the crumbling UCF 38-10.

19. Wisconsin Badgers (1-1): Didn’t play, fell back one spot.

20. Kansas State Wildcats (2-0): Didn’t play, fell back one spot.

21. BYU Cougars (3-0): The season carries on quite nicely for BYU, beating Houston 33-25 to make it a four spot jump this week.

22. Clemson Tigers (1-1): Didn’t play, jumped up one spot.

23. Ohio State Buckeyes (2-1): Bounced back from their loss to Virginia Tech by beating Kent State 66-0 but actually fell down one spot.

24. Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-0): Back in the top 25 thanks to a 55-19 drubbing over the sad case of Fresno State.

25. Oklahoma State Cowboys (2-1): A 43-13 win over Texas San Antonio puts them in the top 25 for the first time this season.

Dropped from rankings: Virginia Tech (were 17) after losing to East Carolina, Louisville (were 21) after losing to Virginia.
