Three games opened the 2010-2011 NBA season last night – The Super hyped Miami Heat came to Boston and got a lesson about something called “TEAM”, losing 88-80, The defending champions needed a Steve Blake three pointer to beat Houston 112-110 in the best game of the night while Brandon Roy and the Blazers were too much in the fourth quarter for Nash and the Suns with Portland winning 106-92. Yeah, Yeah, You’re Losing

LeBron James was the only one who made himself noticed, at least in a good way, last night for the Miami Heat, scoring 31 points. Dwyane Wade, who needs time to gel back with the team after his injury, scored 13 points in an awful 4-16 shooting night, in which Miami were dominated by the Celtics pretty much the entire game.

The Painful Truth

Every time the Heat got close, it was Paul Pierce (and Ray Allen, We’ll get to him) who was there to stop the, with a gutting three pointer or something similar. Pierce finished with 19 points, including 3-4 from the outside.

You Win With The Little Things

Rondo couldn’t get anything to fall for him last night, finishing with 4 points (2-9), but he carved the Miami defense again and again, finishing with 17 assists and great defense all night (2 steals).

Good To Be Back

Ray Allen led the Celtics in scoring with 20 points, including 5 three pointers and the basket that finally put away the Heat with just over 40 seconds to go, hitting a tre from the corner, making it 86-80 Boston and clinching the victory.

Dunks Are Nice, But Not Enough

Jason Richardson had 22 points and Steve Nash scored 26 (with only six assists), but they were pretty much alone out there, getting annihilated in the fourth quarter 31-11, with 5 Blazers finishing in double figures.

I Own This Place

Brandon Roy led the Blazers with 24 points and six assists, including hitting 4 three pointers, leading the Blazers to their 10th straight win in their home opener and some sort of payback against the Suns who knocked out Portland in last year’s playoff.

Luis Scola trying to make it out of the pile up on the floor. Scola had a great game with 18 points and 16 rebounds continuing his great summer with the national team and his performance in the Basketball World Championship.

He’s Back

Yao Ming played his first NBA game since April, 2009, limited to 23 minutes, scoring 9 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and getting 2 blocks. He probably won’t get more minutes than that usually if he wants to remain outside hospitals and crutches.

The Real Final MVP

Gasol has had better moments than the one here in this picture, getting his face getting a treatment from Yao Ming. He scored 29 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a stellar opening night.
