Manchester United Move on to Second Straight Final, Beat Arsenal 3-1

Maybe this is the greatest team since “Grande Milan”. Maybe not. Manchester United have a ticket to Rome, and did so convincingly. They were 2-0 up after 11 minutes in the game, and except for the penalty kick scored by Van Persie late in the second half were never really close to conceding. A perfect or nearly perfect defensive display and flawless execution on the other side of the pitch by Ronaldo and Ji Sung Park left Arsene Wenger frowning and clueless throughout the match.

Kieran Gibbs was the tragic character of the night, as he slipped to allow Ji Sung Park to put United 1-0 up early on, looking close to burst in tears every time the camera zoomed in on him. Ronaldo blasted a free kick 3 minutes later that Manuel Almunia was short and late of saving.

A perfect counter attack that started with Ronaldo’s heel to Park and ended with Rooney assisting Ronaldo’s finish made it 3 in the 60th minute and started sending Arsenal fans to the exits. Van Persie scored from the Penalty spot 76 minutes into the game after Darren Fletcher was sent off for his foul, but that was it for Arsenal.

Ferdinand and Vidic were perfect in covering Van Persie and Adebayor who tried moving left and right only to meet Evra and Oshea who handled Walcott and Nasri easily on each flank, while the midfield handled Fabergas fantastically. Cesc was weak to be gentle with the Spaniard. And without a good Fabergas, Arsenal didn’t stand a chance.

Arsenal’s season is over now, while United have 3 league games in one week that in the end of that run should be crowned English Champions for the 18th time and 3rd time in a row.

And for anyone who didn’t see or just wants to watch it again, here are the Red Devils at their best:
