The debut of Johnny Manziel for the Cleveland Browns turned their game against the Detroit Lionsinto one of the most hyped up NFL preseason games ever, but it wasn’t just the 13-12 that was anti-climactic, but also the performance from the rookie quarterback, along with Brian Hoyer and Matthew Stafford who also didn’t impress.

Vikings Over Raiders – Debuts Don’t go so Smoothly
Fans of the Minnesota Vikings wanted to see Teddy Bridgewater make his debut in any kind of NFL game but weren’t left impressed with the rookie; a bit more with the 10-6 win over the Oakland Raiders, who have made their own changes to the quarterback position, although they didn’t get much from another newcomer, Matt Schaub.

Bears Over Eagles – Quarterbacks Leave Opposite Impressions
While the Chicago Bears were quite happy with the performances of Jay Cutler, Jordan Palmer and Jimmy Clausen at quarterback, the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 34-28, were much less pleased with what they saw from their starter Nick Foles, with things from Matt Barkley and Mark Sanchez not being much better.

Broncos Over Seahawks – Not Quite Like the Super Bowl
A Super Bowl rematch in the preseason? Not very exciting. The Denver Broncos beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 with both Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson on the field, but the game will be mostly remembered for the lightning delay, the too many flags being thrown and the endzone interception by Steven Johnson that finished the game.

Chargers Over Cowboys – Perfect Passing Does the Trick
The preseason opener between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers ended in a 27-7 win for the bolts as Tony Romo didn’t play, Philip Rivers got in one series, Brandon Weeden looked pretty good and we mostly saw some incredible accuracy from the home team quarterbacks, completing all but two passes.

Ravens Over 49ers – A New Offense Means Plenty of Hype
Sometimes it was actually depressing seeing the Baltimore Ravens last season, but a change of offensive coordinators means that might be a thing of the past, as Joe Flacco looked good early on, a counter to Colin Kaepernick who didn’t do anything special, with the San Francisco 49ers losing 23-3.

Redskins Over Patriots – Only One Quarterback Actually Played
A preseason win for the Washington Redskins over the New England Patriots (23-6) doesn’t really mean anything, but it was a chance for Jay Gruden to have a taste of being a head coach instead of a coordinator, for Robert Griffin III to play one series and for Tom Brady too look good on the bench, not getting a single snap, which isn’t unusual.
