Allyson Felix finally won her individual gold medal in the 200 meters race; Aries Merritt took his first gold medal with a fantastic sub 13-seconds time in the 110 meters hurdles and Brittney Reese, lazily, took the gold in the women’s long jump with 7.12, her only good jump of the final.

Charlotte Bobcats – From Worst in the NBA to …?
The 2011-2012 version of the Charlotte Bobcats wasn’t just the worst in the NBA, it was the worst in NBA history. Finishing the season on a 23 game losing streak, the Bobcats posted a 7-59 record, winning a record low 10.6% of their games. A shortened season didn’t help them, and having Michael Jordan as an owner didn’t help them, as it hasn’t for most of the franchise’s existence.

Real Madrid – No More Luka Modric, Just Axel Witsel
The Luka Modric ordeal is nearly over, with no real resolution. Real Madrid made a final €30 million ‘take it or leave it’ offer to Tottenham and were rejected once again, which will now probably turn their full attention to Benfica’s Belgian midfielder, Axel Witsel.

Most Successful Nations in Olympic Football History
Brazil vs Mexico will be the final of the 2012 Olympics football tournament, two nations that have never won gold in their previous visits. Brazil, amazingly, have four medals, two of silver and two of bronze, but still no gold. For Mexico, it’s their first ever final and a promised first ever medal in the football tournament. One of them will join the previous 17 winners on August 11.
