Champions League – Week 6 Results & Tables (Groups A – D)

Galatasaray, Juventus, Snow

The match that focused most of the attention before the matchday was between Galatasaray and Juventus, but the snow and weather forced it to be abandoned before the end of the first half. Meanwhile, Manchester United finally won at home and Leverkusen joined them in the next round.

Olympiacos join Paris Saint-Germain from group C after Benfica’s win over PSG didn’t really help anyone, while Manchester City pulled off an impressive win in Munich against Bayern.

Group A

Manchester United are winning again, despite not looking too well, beating Shakhtar 1-0 through a Phil Jones goal. With the win, Manchester United clinch the top spot in the group, while Leverkusen take advantage of the Ukrainian slip up and by beating Real Sociedad 1-0 in Spain, making it to the next stage.

Group B

The drama of group B will have to wait to another day – the terrible weather in Istanbul caused the match between Galatasaray and Juventus to be abandoned, while Real Madrid beat FC Copenhagen 2-0 with goals from Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, making it an almost perfect group stage campaign.

Group C

Despite a surprising win for Benfica over PSG (2-1; goals from Lima and Nico Gaitan while Edinson Cavani scored for the visitors), Olympiacos beating Anderlecht 3-1 (twice from Javier Saviola and a penalty kick from Alejandro Dominguez) gave the Greeks the second place finish.

Group D

A stunning win for Manchester City in Munich against Bayern wasn’t enough for them to overtake the top spot in the group. Bayern Munich led 2-0 with goals from Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze, but Manchester City turned things around with David Silva, Aleksandr Kolarov and James Milner, finishing second and making it to the round of 16 for the first time ever. Viktoria Plzen beat CKSA Moscow 2-1, making it to the Europa League. Ahmed Musa scored first for the Russian side, but Daniel Kolar and Thomas Wagner turned things around.
