Oklahoma Sooners – The More Quarterbacks The Better

This is what rivalry games were made for – not to win championships, but to ruining the chance of getting there. Oklahoma had only the motivation of spoiling it for Oklahoma State, but it was enough to pull off the upset 33-24 win in Stillwater, getting a great cameo appearance off the bench by Blake Bell, one of fourth quarterbacks used by the Sooners, and a huge all-around performance from Jalen Saunders, getting things done as a receiver, rusher and punt returner.

Baylor Bears – Big 12 Champions For The First Time

It’s been a very long time since Baylor won a conference championship – 19 years to be exact. It was hard for some people to see them hosting Texas as the favorites for what turned into the Big 12 championship game, but things have changed since Art Briles has taken over the program, lifting it to new heights through Bryce Petty and a surprisingly efficient defense, taking the program to the Fiesta Bowl and a BCS one in general for the first time.

Auburn Tigers – Keeping SEC Tradition Alive

Despite the whole country being sick and tired of SEC teams making their way into the national championship game, the best conference in college football is sending another team to try and win the BCS, with Auburn proving they deserve every accolade and other trophy they might win, beating Missour in the conference title game, while Tre Mason set a number of individual records to cap off an exceptional 2013.

Michigan State – Perfection Going Down The Drain

Defense is always the less impressive thing, but Ohio State came into the Big Ten championship game with some pretty impressive offensive numbers to back them up, not to mention a 24-0 record over the last two years. The end result? Michigan State, their first top 10 opponent in that time span, were simply too good, and while the Spartans head over to the Rose Bowl, the Buckeyes saw their national championship dreams destroyed, now left to hope their get an at-large BCS invite.

College Football – BCS Standings Mess All Cleared Up

No more debated, arguments or discussions. Auburn winning the SEC championship game against Missouri, Michigan State beating Ohio State for the Big Ten title and Florida State doing what they were supposed to against Duke seals the BCS national championship game picture, which should be the Seminoles against the Tigers, while despite having just one loss, teams like the Spartans and Baylor will have to play for a lesser BCS Bowl.

Adnan Januzaj & Chicharito Continue the Manchester United Diving Tradition

Even with Ashley Young out of the lineup, there doesn’t seem to be any cease to the proud diving tradition he established at Manchester United, with Javier Hernandez and Adnan Januzaj trying to emulate the master in the loss to Manchester United, without really succeeding.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic – More Goals & Assists Than Anyone in France

The latest tally by Zlatan Ibrahimovic? Two goals and two assists in the 5-0 PSG win over Sochaux. It’s rare to have a striker rack up so many assists like Ibrahimovic does, but it’s ever rarer to see someone lead the charts in both goals and assists at the same time.

Chelsea FC – Andre Schurrle Can’t Make Up For a Soft Team

One of the interesting things about the makeup of this Chelsea team in comparison to the one Jose Mourinho had during his first tenure at the club is physicality. There’s plenty of talent in the modern version – Andre Schurrle, Eden Hazard, Juan Manuel Mata and others. However, too many of those he had a few years ago have grown weaker and slower during that time, while other new faces are simply too soft for his own vision of how this team should look like.

Liverpool FC – Luis Suarez Gets His Goals Eventually

Unlike previous years, Liverpool are picking up the points they’re meant to, which means that through a comfortable opening schedule, they’ve had very few results one could call disappointing. However, things get tougher very soon, and for that, it’s going to take a lot more than Luis Suarez and his incredible scoring ability to remain among the top 4 with a slight advantage in the race to a Champions League ticket.
