Premier League – Week 1 Results & Table

Not too many goals, but plenty of interesting results, led by Swansea upsetting Manchester United at the Old Trafford to open the Premier League season, while Arsenal enjoyed a 90th minute goal from Aaron Ramsey to come away with a opening weekend win. The same scenario was at place for their bitter rivals Tottenham, also winning in injury time with Eric Dier being the hero.

Match Highlights – Manchester United vs Swansea

Not the start Louis van Gaal and Manchester United were hoping for in the 2014-2015 season, losing at Old Trafford to Swansea for the first time in the Premier League. An early goal from Ki-Sung Yeung showed it was going to be a tough day for the hosts, but Wayne Rooney scoring an equalizer brought the hope level back up. Gylfi Sigurdsson, making his return with the Welsh club, ended those hopes of three points on the opening weekend.

Dodgers Lose to Brewers – It All Falls Apart in One Inning

The Los Angeles Dodgers seemed to be well on their way to another comfortable victory thanks to Yasiel Puig and Zack Grenike, but Jeremy Wright fell apart in the 8th inning by giving up five runs and the Dodgers couldn’t generate enough offense to escape from a 6-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Raiders Over Lions – Result is the Least Important Thing

Despite losing 27-26 to the Oakland Raiders, the Detroit Lions are probably quite pleased with what they saw early on from their starters and especially Matthew Stafford, throwing two touchdown passes before the hosts got on a roll which they rode until their narrow win.

Seahawks Over Chargers – What Champions Should Look Like

After a terrible opening preseason performance from the defending Super Bowl champions, the Seattle Seahawks made the most of Russell Wilson playing his first game in the preseason, beating the San Diego Chargers 41-14, showing some incredible dominance on both ends of the field before easing off by letting the replacements play a little bit.

Rays Over Yankees – One is Rising, the Other Crashing & Burning

Things keep devolving and deteriorating for the New York Yankees, losing 5-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays, who got a fantastic pitching performance from Alex Cobb but more importantly are at .500 for the first time since April, managing to come back from 18 games under in the same season, something that only three other teams have done.
-
Patriots Over Eagles – More Than Just a Preseason Game

If the New England Patriots needed any motivation for their second preseason game, it might have come from the words of Cary Williams, who retracted his ‘cheaters’ statement after the Philadelphia Eagles lost 42-35, as Tom Brady appeared for the first time heading into the new NFL season, looking sharp and accurate most of the time, just like Nick Foles.

Premier League – Week 1 Predictions

The English Premier League beings with seven matches on its first day of the season, as Manchester United begin their campaign of erasing the memory of the previous one by playing against Swansea, while other big matches happen to both be London derbies: West Ham hosting Tottenham and Arsenal, with their lofty ambitions, playing at home against the messed up Crystal Palace.

Team USA – Kevin Durant Threw Them Under the Bus

An NBA player should probably think of himself first before anyone or anything else, but it’s impossible to avoid the fact that Kevin Durant really pulled a number on his Team USA coaches and former teammates, and any attempt to sugarcoat it with some generic excuse only makes him come out worse.

2014-2015 Premier League Season Predictions: Chelsea, Manchester City or Someone Else

The 2014-2015 Premier League season is about to begin, and at the moment, it seems like one team from last year’s title challenge is dropping out of the wuthering heights (Liverpool) at the expense of a familiar contender (Manchester United), while Chelsea and Manchester City, just like a year ago, seem like early favorites to finish on top. Arsenal? We still can’t take them completely seriously.
