The 2013 NCAA Tournament Bracket โ€“ 68 Team Edition

All four number one seeds in the 2013 NCAA tournament, Louisville, Kansas, Indiana and Gonzaga, aren’t repeats from last year. The 68 team field kicks off with the first four on March 19 & 20, with the second round, the actual tournament in its original form of 64 teams, begins on March 21.

Kentucky became the 20th national champions to miss the tournament the next year after bowing out in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament, losing to Vanderbilt, earning them the #1 seed in the NIT.

The First Four begins on March 19 in the Midwest region, as Middle Tennessee take on Saint Mary’s and Liberty play North Carolina AT&T. On March 20, Boise State take on La Salle in the West and James Madison play against Long Island in the East region.

The Big East sent 8 teams into the tournament, surprising some who thought that the Big Ten, the popular pick for best conference in the nation, will have the most representatives. The Big Ten sent 7 teams, followed by a three-way tie between the Mountain West, Atlantic 10 and Pac-12 with 5 teams each. The ACC sent four teams into the tournament, while the SEC settled for 3.
