Not a lot of movement in the top 25, as even the Alabama win over Texas A&M dropped the Aggies only four spots, keeping them among the top 10. Oregon kept their place and first place vote thanks to a big win over Tennessee, while Ole Miss were the biggest risers after beating Texas, while Arizona State and Texas Tech made it into the rankings for the first time in 2013.
It was a bad weekend for the Big Ten, as Nebraska and Wisconsin both lost to Pac-12 teams, knocking the Cornhuskers out of the top 25, while Wisconsin dropped four spots. Michigan, with a scrappy win over Akron, fell down a bit as well.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide, 2-0 (59 First Place Votes): The national champions didn’t have the easiest of times against Texas A&M, but they came up with what might be their biggest win of the season, 49-42 in at Kyle Field.
2. Oregon Ducks, 3-0 (1): The hottest offense in the nation kept Oregon at number 2 after a devastating 59-14 win over Tennessee, with Marcus Mariota throwing for 456 yards.
3. Clemson Tigers, 2-0: Kept their spot despite not playing at all.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes, 3-0: Didn’t have Braxton Miller, but did quite well with Kenny Guiton in his place, beating California 52-34 and keeping their place in the top 4.
5. Stanford Cardinal, 2-0: Didn’t have the easiest of times against Army, but still came up with the 34-20 thanks to a strong performance in the second half, especially coming from Tyler Gaffney.
6. LSU Tigers, 3-0: Moved up a couple of spots thanks to a 45-13 win over Kent State, enjoying another strong performance from Zach Mettenberger.
7. Louisville Cardinals, 3-0: Maintain their momentum in their state-rivalry game, beating Kentucky 27-13 and remain in the same spot.
8. Florida State Seminoles, 2-0: Moved up a couple of spots after a huge 62-7 win over Nevada, with Jameis Winston putting in another strong performance to help his legend grow.
9. Georgia Bulldogs, 1-1: Didn’t play, didn’t move.
10. Texas A&M Aggies, 2-1: Lost to Alabama in the game that many think will decide the SEC West. Johnny Manziel put on quite a show in the 42-49 loss, but the Aggies dropped four spots.
11. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 3-0: After an easy 59-3 win over Lamar, all the Cowboys could do amid the controversy surrounding the reports of payments to players and other scandal-related news, is move up one spot.
12. South Carolina Gamecocks, 2-1: Bounced back from their loss to Georgia with a 35-25 win at home against Vanderbilt, pushing them up a spot in the poll.
13. UCLA Bruins, 2-0: A big comeback win in Lincoln over Nebraska (41-21), pushing the Bruins up three spots.
14. Oklahoma Sooners, 3-0: Remained in the same spot as last week after a 51-20 win over Tulsa, with Balke Bell throwing for 413 yards and 4 touchdowns.
15. Michigan Wolverines, 3-0: Still perfect, but their lackluster win against Akron (28-24) dropped them four spots.
16. Miami Hurricanes, 2-0: Didn’t play, and fell one spot.
17. Washington Huskies, 2-0: A huge performance from running back Bishop Sankey (208 yards) and a strong performance from Keith Price (342 yards, 2 touchdowns) helped them win 34-24 in Illinois, moving them up two spots.
18. Northwestern Wildcats, 3-0: Dropped a spot despite their 38-17 win over Western Michigan as Treyvon Green ran for 158 yards and two scores.
19. Florida Gators, 1-1: Fell a spot even though they didn’t play.
20. Baylor Bears, 2-0: Didn’t play, and still climbed two spots.
21. Ole Miss Rebels, 3-0: A great start for the Rebels, who destroyed Texas in Austin 44-23, helping them rise four spots up the polls.
22. Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 2-1: Did beat Purdue 31-24 on the road while scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter, but it didn’t help them in the polls, dropping a spot.
23. Arizona State Sun Devils, 2-0: Beat Wisconsin 32-30 at the last moment, delivering another big blow to the Big Ten pride and moving into the polls for the first time.
24. Wisconsin Badgers, 2-1: Lost to Arizona State on a bizarre ending, dropping them four spots from last week.
25. Texas Tech, 3-0: Beat TCU in an ugly 20-10 win over the Horned Frogs on a Thursday evening, moving them into the rankings for the first time this season.
