Once again, not a lot of motion in the upper side of the top 25, with Georgia being a three-spot movers up the AP Poll after beating LSU, remaining behind undefeated Stanford, Ohio State, Clemson, Oregon and Alabama, who kept on their winning ways, while Arizona State and Maryland are newcomers to the rankings this week. The biggest drop was experienced by Oklahoma State after losing to West Virginia, free falling 10 spots.
1. Alabama Crimson Tide, 4-0 (55 First Place Votes): Another less than impressive offensive performance, but a 25-0 win over ranked Ole Miss is nothing to be ashamed about.
2. Oregon Ducks, 4-0 (5): No problem in putting on another offensive masterclass, beating California 55-16, gaining 264 yards on the ground.
3. Clemson Tigers, 4-0: Another big performance from Tajh Boyd as Clemson beat Wake Forest 56-7.
4. Ohio State Buckeyes, 5-0: Got Braxton Miller back, tossing four touchdown passes, in what might be their biggest win of the season, beating ranked Wisconsin 31-24.
5. Stanford Cardinal, 4-0: A strong performance from Kevin Hogan, throwing three touchdown passes, as Stanford had no problem beating Washington State 55-17.
6. Georgia Bulldogs, 3-1: Moving up three spots and the first movers of the weekend, beating LSU 44-41 in one of the best games of the season, getting four touchdown passes from Aaron Murray.
7. Louisville Cardinals, 4-0: Didn’t play, didn’t move.
8. Florida State Seminoles, 4-0: A tricky win against Boston College, winning 48-34 as Jameis Winston finished with 397 yards in passing and rushing, throwing four touchdown passes.
9. Texas A&M Aggies, 4-1: Moved up one spot after beating Arkansas 45-33 with a strong performance from their running crew, gaining 264 yards on the ground.
10. LSU Tigers, 4-1: Dropped only one spot after a 44-41 loss to Georgia, enjoying a strong performance from Zach Metternberger, throwing three touchdown passes.
11. Oklahoma Sooners, 4-0: Oklahoma moving on closer to where they’re used to be, beating Notre Dame 35-21 in South Bend. Improved by three spots.
12. UCLA Bruins, 3-0: Didn’t play, and yet moved up a spot.
13. South Carolina Gamecocks, 3-1: Struggled against Central Florida, winning 28-25, while losing their quarterback Connor Shaw, dropping one spot in the polls.
14. Miami Hurricanes, 4-0: Moved up one spot after a 49-21 win over South Florida.
15. Washington Huskies, 4-0: Improved by one spot after a muddy win over Arizona 31-13, getting 161 yards from Bishop Sankey.
16. Northwestern, 4-0: Didn’t play, and still moved up one spot.
17. Baylor Bears, 3-0: Didn’t play, and moved up two spots.
18. Florida Gators, 3-1: Finally, a bit of rising for the Gators, who did beat Kentucky 24-7, getting some poll love and rising two spots.
19. Michigan Wolverines, 4-0: Didn’t play, and moved down one spot.
20. Texas Tech Raiders, 4-0: Didn’t play, and yet managed to move up four spots.
21. Oklahoma State Cowboys, 3-1: Their 30-21 loss at West Virginia ended their undefeated run and made them fall 10 spots down the polls.
22. Arizona State Sun Devils, 3-1: Return to the rankings thanks to a 62-41 win over USC, which also got the Trojans’ head coach fired.
23. Fresno State Bulldogs, 4-0: Still undefeated and moving on up by two spots thanks to a 42-37 win over Hawaii.
24. Ole Miss Rebels, 3-1: Dropped only one spot despite getting shut out in Tuscaloosa, losing to Alabama 25-0.
25. Maryland Terrapins, 4-0: Make it into the rankings for the first time this season despite not playing.
