Team USA – Rudy Gay Gets Lucky Kevin Durant Pulls Out

One injury to Paul George and another selfish and damaging decision from Kevin Durant opened the way for Rudy Gay to join the training camp of Team USA heading into the 2014 World Basketball Championship in Spain, with the Small Forward position needing severe improvement after the disasters of the previous week.

Bears Over Eagles – Quarterbacks Leave Opposite Impressions

While the Chicago Bears were quite happy with the performances of Jay Cutler, Jordan Palmer and Jimmy Clausen at quarterback, the Philadelphia Eagles, losing 34-28, were much less pleased with what they saw from their starter Nick Foles, with things from Matt Barkley and Mark Sanchez not being much better.

Cleveland Cavaliers – LeBron James is Great at Making Empty Promises

People in sports announcing things shouldn’t be trusted. Today, LeBron James might say that he’s going to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the rest of his career, but words are wind, and it wouldn’t even be slightly surprising if in the near future he actually thinks about playing elsewhere. When the first thing in line is taking care of yourself, making promises of loyalty doesn’t really mean anything.

Broncos Over Seahawks – Not Quite Like the Super Bowl

A Super Bowl rematch in the preseason? Not very exciting. The Denver Broncos beat the Seattle Seahawks 21-16 with both Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson on the field, but the game will be mostly remembered for the lightning delay, the too many flags being thrown and the endzone interception by Steven Johnson that finished the game.

NFL Rumors – Oakland Raiders Might Move to San Antonio

It’s not exactly a secret that the owner of the Oakland Raiders, Mark Davis, has been considering moving the team to another city for quite some time. Chargers Over Cowboys – Perfect Passing Does the Trick

The preseason opener between the Dallas Cowboys and the San Diego Chargers ended in a 27-7 win for the bolts as Tony Romo didn’t play, Philip Rivers got in one series, Brandon Weeden looked pretty good and we mostly saw some incredible accuracy from the home team quarterbacks, completing all but two passes.
-
Dodgers Over Angels – A Slightly Humiliating Ending

After four games with changing home fields, the Los Angeles Dodgers come away as the big winners from their double series against the Los Angeles Angels, picking up a 7-0 win thanks to a dominant performance from Hyun-Jin Ryu and some excellent hitting from Hanley Ramirez and Adrian Gonzalez.

Ravens Over 49ers – A New Offense Means Plenty of Hype

Sometimes it was actually depressing seeing the Baltimore Ravens last season, but a change of offensive coordinators means that might be a thing of the past, as Joe Flacco looked good early on, a counter to Colin Kaepernick who didn’t do anything special, with the San Francisco 49ers losing 23-3.

Team USA – Kevin Durant Quits on Those who Counted on Him

Not as lovable or likable as before, quitting on Team USA after already being part of one training camp won’t add popularity points to Kevin Durant, citing physical and mental fatigue as the reasons for his withdrawal from the selection process heading into the 2014 Basketball World Championships.

Redskins Over Patriots – Only One Quarterback Actually Played

A preseason win for the Washington Redskins over the New England Patriots (23-6) doesn’t really mean anything, but it was a chance for Jay Gruden to have a taste of being a head coach instead of a coordinator, for Robert Griffin III to play one series and for Tom Brady too look good on the bench, not getting a single snap, which isn’t unusual.
